I have a Physician Assistant in my practice that has done an aspiration of knee in the hospital and no Doctor has signed off on it. Can I bill for that under the PA alone? Is a PA allowed to do a procedure that falls in the 'surgery' coding area without a Physician's co-signature? This same PA also wants to bill for a closed treatment of a fracture for a patient in the hospital- is that allowed or must it be billed under a Doctor only? Any help would be appreciated as I have only billed PA's out as assists in the hospital setting and supervised in the office.
