Can a physician assistant examine patients without a Physician being on site billing Medicare?

In some states yes and no in others. In those states where a PA is allowed to see patients without the physician present, you must use the PAs NPI number as the rendering , billing provider.

We are in South Carolina. This is something new at our practice. I worked for a chiro office and they would not see patients on Wed., because we did not have a Dr on site.
