Wiki Physician's responsibility in choosing E&M?

For hospital-based clinics, is it the responsibility of the Physician or mid-level provider to choose the level of E&M for an office encounter, or can this be done by certified coding staff employed by the group?

Coding staff can do it as long as you have all of your documentation. But from my experience, sometimes facilities structured such as what you mentioned, might have different polices and procedures. I would check with your compliance dept.
