Physician attempted PICC insertion in right extremity and was unsuccessful after a few attempts. Venography performed showing occlusion. Procedure aborted on right side.
Left side was prepped and draped and the PICC line insertion was successful on the left side using u/s and fluoro guidance. So my question is:
Is it appropriate to bill 36005-59 & 75820-59 for the venography on the right side as well as 36569, 76937 and 77001 for the PICC insertion on the left side? Or should only the 36569, 76937 and 77001 be billed since the intent was PICC insertion?
