Patient is having a revision of MCP arthroplasty. During the procedure, the previous silicone implant was noted to have discoloration which appeared related to the component. Implant was removed and cultures sent to pathology. Area was thoroughly irrigated. Decision was made to place the antibiotic spacer to maintain the length of the ligamentum tendon during the period of rest. Antibiotic cement was obtained and molded appropriately to place.
In addition to the revision code, would this placement be 11981? Also when they come back 6 weeks later and the spacer is removed, would that be 11982?
Thank you,

I have a note that 11981 is if above fascia

Consider looking into 20700-20705 note: these are add on codes
Thinking if intra-articular would be 20700 (deep eg. subfasia) and removal would be 20701
These codes are if manually prepped since this was mixed and placed that is what I am leaning too:)

27488 would be if spacer came out of a box ready to go!
