Tonsillectomy, UPPP with uvulopalatal flap, submucous resection/ablation of inferior turbinates.
Uvulopalatal flap is incised with needle tip bovie and mucosa is elevated and excised. It is then reflcected anteriorly and sutured into the defect with mattress sutures.
Inferior turbinates are ablated via Coblation. But Procedure at top of note says submucosal Resection.
Are tonsillectomy and uvulopalatal flap included in 42145?
thank you

What is the flap repairing, what is the defect that it is needed.
It it is closing the UPPP, it would included. And yes, the tonsillectomy is included in the UPPP. 30802 is a submucosal radiofrequency reduction of the inferior turbinate. An incision is made into the mucosa and the radiofrequency wand is inserted into the submucosal to shrink the turbinates. That is what you should be seeing in the op note.
