Patient has a fractured proximal humerus comminuted displaced.

Surgeon did a reverse total shoulder.

Ordinarily with fracture and prosthetic replacement I use 23616. However, because this is a reverse Total shoulder, do I use 23472 ?
He replaced glenoid and the humeral head
Please help, he is wanting to know if he can bill for the total shoulder.

I think if He did total shoulder in which the Glenoid and Humeral components were replaced, it can be billed with 23472 rather than 23616. CPT does not have seperate code for reverse total shoulder, but 23472 warrants replacement of both components of shoulder. It may help you I think.
