Wiki Plica, scar tissue procedure

Hello,

I have a procedure where the doctor did a plica debridement in one compartment and then he debrided scar tissue in another compartment. Would 29877 be an accurate code for both?

Code 29877 is for the debridement / shaving of chondral tissue. So code 29877 would not fit plica/scar tissue.

Assuming by your code that this was done through a scope, have you looked at 29875/29884? If the scar tissue is synovitis, you might be able to use 29876 since it is 2 compartments.

Google and read up on what CPT use for plica. There may also be CPT Assistant info.
It is difficult without seeing the op note. Was this part of a bigger case with other procedures?
