A provider ordered a CBC, CMP and a POCT istat lab test in the same ER encounter. Do I need a modifier on the sodium, potassium ( which are part of the CMP) and hematocrit (which is part of the CBC) components of the istat, which was not done as a repeat to obtain subsequent results for these components? I believe I can use a modifier 59 for a distinct procedural service. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
