I have a physician that reads echo's. The echo 93306 is done at a free standing facility. The facility bills with the TC modifier and the physician with a 26 modifier. The physician reads the report from his office. Is it correct to bill the POS as the free standing facility or use the physicians office as the POS? I have read through Medicare and it is my understanding that the physician is to bill the POS where the echo was done. Please help. Angela:)

You are correct - the place of service should be where the patient actually received the services.
