Patient admitted (inpatient) on 07/01/2009 & discharged 07/07/2009. An EEG is performed on 07/07/2009, and the interpretation is performed on 07/08/2009. What about the POS, inpatient or outpatient for billing the interpretation?

You would bill for what was done.

If your provider read it on 7/8/09 in his office and dictated the report from there that is what you would bill. 7/8/09 pos 11.

Your documentation has to support what you did.

Your documentation will not support 7/7/09 pos 21 if it didn't happen then and there.

The provider read it in the hospital, so will it be outpatient or inpatient?
Does the same apply to radiology readings?

Thanks!
