Hi,

Can we code positive Coombs test and Jaundice code together for a newborn baby? Any supporting guidelines available?

There's no excludes1 code on P59 (neonatal jaundice.) If there is not a definitive dx based on the Coombs test, there's always "Abnormal finding of blood chemistry, unspecified" (R79.9)--if the provider states it's abnormal. R79 is excludes2 for hematological disorders of the newborn, which includes P59. However, if the documentation supports that the jaundice is NOT related, you could code both.
