I'm trying to code a follow-up encounter from an elective medical abortion. The closest code I can find that seems appropriate is Z33.2, however that is for an "encounter for a medical abortion", and this visit was the follow-up. Does anyone have any suggestions on a better code to use?

I am not an expert. You can also post this question to OBGYN specialty forum where we have outstanding experts to assist us. My thinking: if the procedure/CPT is 10-90 global and pt comes in within that period, dx could be z48.8- after surgical care ( but no big worries on dx, since this visit is inclusive into actual procedure, so no extra reimbursement). IF outside of global, Z09 + z98890-history of surgery. IF there are complications and outside of global, then dx=complications.
