Has anyone had any luck with getting paid for MRSA post op complication of surgery? or did it just bundle with global?

Thanks,
Kari

I always keep the CMS Global Surgery Fact sheet to reffer to because I know myself it comes up when working with providers. According to their guidance :

"All additional medical or surgical services required of the surgeon during the post-operative period of the surgery because of complications, which do not require additional trips to the operating room are not seperatley payable"

For me I consider MRSA to be a complication from the surgery. Going in they are medically cleared for surgery. This comes up as post-operative infection which is a complication. Hope this helps.
