I'm new to foot and ankle procedures; need help please.

DX RT posterior tendinitis
Procedure : Right posterior tendon debridement and repair

Attention was directed to the medical aspect of the right ankle where a longitudinal incision was made following the tibialis posterior tendon, carried down through subcutaneus tissues to the level of the tendon sheath, was incised and at this point we noted tenosynovitis involving the area of the posterior tibial tendon just before it inserts into the navicular. Debridement of the tendon was obtained down to nice healthy tissue. repair was one using Krackow method.

is this 28200-rt?
thank you

I typically use 27680 for debridement of ankle tendons for tendinitis (PB/PL/PTT). Not sure why a repair for dx as there is no mention of tear/dislocation. If suture only to close incision then no additional coding.

PTT is a flexor so a true repair would be 27658 or 27659

If no subluxation or dislocation then 28200 per the AMA - I usually use for peronial tendons

Repairs typically require some form of damage or disease and most often have a tendon transfer performed.

Hope this helps.
