Scenario - patient delivers at another hospital and has never seen our docs before, but she and the newborn are transferred to the hospital that our docs have privileges for, because of the need for level III neonatal care. Our OB/Gyn assumes care of mom on inpatient status. How would this be billed?

Wouldn't the E/M inpatient status code with low MDM with support of V24 series- V24.0 or
V 24.1 go for this scenario?

I was thinking of using the initial inpatient and subsequent codes with the type of delivery code (ie 642.51, 644.21, etc). I assume this would be ok since we are different a provider than the one who provided antepartum and delivery care. Mom would follow up for her postpartum (non-hospital) visit with the delivering provider.
