patient is scheduled for surgery (Cholecystectomy) and
was seen by cardiologist in the clinic for clearance .Is it ok to use V72.81 and Cholecystitis code or should I use V72.83 with cholecystitis code.

Pre Op Clearance

If you performed a Pre-operative Cardiovascular Examination I would code the V72.81 and then the code that prompted the reason for surgery. You should also list any codes that reflect any diseases/conditions that necessitated the special cardiovascular screening.
