I work at an orthopaedic practice that has outpatient physical therapy. One of our physicians wants to begin having his surgical patients evaluated and educated with physical therapy prior to having TKR or THR. Since there is a global period prior to surgery, what time-window are we looking at in order to render these services before the surgery? And would Medicare actually pay for these type of services prior to surgery?
