I'm currently working with coding for family practice and internal medicine. Previously I was working only with specialists, so I have had no experience with Preventative Visits. Can someone please advise what is the exam criteria for a preventative visit, other than the CPT description? If there is a website I can reference that would be great also. Thank you.
 
As far as I can see, there are no specific 'criteria-to-be-met' for preventive exams. Here are some key guidelines from CMS and CPT:

CMS IPPE (Initial Preventive Physical Examination):
Exam - "Obtain the following: height, weight, BMI, blood pressure, visual acuity, other factors deemed appropriate based on the beneficiary's medical and social history and current clinical standards."

CPT guidelines:
"The 'comprehensive' nature of the Preventive Medicine Services codes 99381-99397 reflects an age and gender appropriate history/exam and is not synonymous with the 'comprehensive' examination required in E&M codes"
