Can someone explain when it would be appropriate for an OBGYN to bill a Preventive and E&M visit same day? I have a few physicians who think if they renew oral contraceptives or any other medication they can bill a separate E&M - I try to stick with new problem with some sort of treatment like an RX - to me refiling existing medications is part of the Preventive visit

I agree. To bill a e/m along with a preventive there needs to be an oh by the way I am having a problem with.....separate identifiable reason.
