My physician wants to bill for a Periodic Comprehensive Preventive Medicine Exam 99395 with a routine screening dx. Patient had a Cryo 07-30-15 for LGSIL and is here for follow up to make sure her symptoms have not returned. Can I bill for an annual Exam 99395 with a routine gynecological exam dx or must I use the diagnostic LGSIL for the diagnosis. One is a routine screening and one is a diagnostic screening; both paid differently by insurance carriers. It is time for the patient's annual exam but has had an abnormal diagnosis within the past six months.

If she is there as part of an annual exam then it should be ok to bill it. however if she is there for follow-up exam from her procedure I would only bill an office visit level appropriate for the service.
