My doctors keep telling me that psychiatry coding guidelines is a bit different than others- I keep telling them I can't code probable diagnosis, but I found a source that said for psychiatry "probable", rule out codes can be coded-

Is that true?

No that is not true. Coding guidelines give no exception to this except for inpatient facility coding and they may code probably as a confirmed dx except for three instances. Physician coders and facility outpatient coders may never code probable as a confirmed diagnosis. What source is stating otherwise and how was it worded?
