If my ER Dr. does a closed reduction of the ankle xrays taking before and after state the fx were of the distal shaft of the fibula and the medial malleolus am I allowed to code both procedure codes, 27762 medial mall and 27781 for the fib fx, or since the fib fx is the distal shaft do i code it as if it is a bimalleolar fx? I don't really know about the 27781 because it says proximal or shaft and that makes it sound like the fx is upper leg and it isn't , so any and all help would truly be appreciated..thanks alice
