Does anyone have any solid, compliant policies on how you offer professional or employee discounts to patients? The OIG guidance seems to say it's ok as long as it doesn't influence a referral to a government insurance insured patient and as long as it's discounted completely (ie. can't bill insurance or the patient). Thanks for any advice!

My girlfriend ran into this recently. She did some per diem work at a PT office. The chiropractor that worked there was giving her treatment but not collecting a copay. We never did get an EOB from insurance so we couldn't figure it out. I did end up looking this up on my own and did find you can do this as long as you don't bill the insurance.
