Can someone let me know if you can bill a prolong service with an E&M code? I am in Pediatrics.

Yes

Yes. While it is often refered to as prolonged procedure, cms chapter 12 section 30.6.15 Refers to them as prolonged services

So long as the documentation and medical necessity issues are in place, yes, there are circumstances where prolonged services may be coded with an E&M

Coding for abortions

can someone help me in this!!!!

Hi All,

1----A 9 weeks pregnant female comes to urgent care with vaginal bleeding and diagnosed as Missed Misscarriage. She is admitted on the same day and physician decided to abort.

Then she was induced with 2 PG pessaries, passes POC but not complete so Doctor proceeded wit ERPC. Should it be coded as legally induced abortion(635.91) or incomplete misscarriage(634.91) or missed misscarriage(ICD code 632)?
2---How to code the same case if patient is previously diagnosed with missed abortion and now comes to hospital for induction by PG by physician.
