I am having a hard time making sense of the math with the prolonged services per CMS. I have an example from CMS Webinar - total time spent supports 80 minutes, and was billed with 99215. The max threshold for 99215 is 54 minutes. CMS does not pay first 15 minutes. I add 54+15= 69 minutes. Take time spent 80 minutes and subtract 69 minutes. 80-69=11. This would not meet 15 minutes to bill. However example shows the correct billing is 99215 x1 & G2212 as correct billing. I keep having people reiterate the rules, which I can read, but apparently am not able to execute. I really need someone to PLEASE do the math for me so I can see how this math works. I am sure it is ubelieveably easy but for some reason I have a major block and cannot get past it. I appreciate any help!!
