Hello I have a patient who after his E/M visit was admitted to hospital by Dr. but stayed in office for 4 hours under supervision until an open room was available at hospital. Would I use prolonged visit codes? Or not include at all.
Any advise would be helpful. thank you
 
prolonged physician time or prolonged staff time depends on documented face to face time, not how long the patient was in the office. So as long as you have a physician visit level and the physician documentation of total face to face time and or staff total face to face time then you must see if there is enough time documented to use the prolong time codes.
