Hi all,

I need clarification about prophylactic injections performed before procedures like cystoscopy. A preprocedure injection of cefatriaxone has been performed before cystoscopic procedure. I read an Urology article which stated drug administration services related to operative procedures are included in the associated procedural HCPCS or CPT® codes. But drug codes can be billed seperately. So I was billing J0696 along with 52000. But I am receiving denials for J0696 stating missing supportive dx. Please advise whether J0696 can be billed seperately or it is also included in procedure workup.
