Patient is diagnosed with prostate cancer and is being treated with Lupron. Is the prostate cancer considered active using the C61 code or is it a history of prostate cancer using the Z85.46 code?

Prostate CA and Lupron

Because he is being treated with Lupron for the cancer, code it as active, C61 with Z79.899, other long term drug therapy.

Thank you PennyR. My provider was audited a couple of years ago and the auditor told him that a patient being treated with Lupron would make the Prostate cancer a "History of Prostate Cancer". Did not make sense to him or me. The patient still has prostate cancer.
