Wiki Provider Medical Record Signature Requirement Exceptions

If a provider leaves their group and does not close/sign many notes for E/M visits in the EHR, can another provider in that group review and sign and close the departed providers notes? My 1st inclination is no, because it does not meet the CMS signature requirements (author of the note must sign to authenticate...), but I am hoping an exception exists that I have just not found. Does any one know of any exceptions? If so, can you please tell me the source link or document? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I would also say no for the same reason, the authentication of the information. Another provider couldn't truly and honestly attest to the accuracy.

If there were exceptions, I'd assume they'd be included in the CMS Signature Guidelines.
