I am seeking clarification regarding coding for psychotherapy, at a Family Medicine clinic. Psychotherapy is offered at the same Family Medicine. If the patient is established with a PCP at a Family Medicine, but is being seen by a psychotherapist as a new patient at that same clinic, would you still code a new patient E/M along with the code for the initial psychotherapy encounter?

Thanks for any help clarifying.
