Good morning,

We are having a discussion in our office regarding the proper way to bill for the administration of a drug that the patient brings in them selves.

96372 is being used for the administration. That code states to specify the substance/drug. Since we are not supplying the drug, do we still have to post a charge for it with a $0? And if we do post it with a $0, where would we get the NDC# from?

Any help or guidance is appreciated.

Thank you

Kathleen

I would post the admin code w/charge, and then post the drug code with a penny charge, just to get it on the record with the insurance. The NDC# should be on the packaging of the drug, which should be collected and copied at the time of service anyway for the record. Hope this helps!
