Hi,
My phsician saw the patient in the ER in the morning and pt. did not want to be admitted. Pt. came back to hospital later that day, my Dr. wrote admission orders that night, BUT did not go back to see the pt. My physician saw the next morning.

Do I charge ER for Day 1 and Hospital Admit for Day 2 or just Hospital Admit for Day 1?

Again, my physician did not go back that same day to see the patient.

Thank you,
Marci, cpc

Hi Marci:

I would bill the face-to-face services that were performed on each day of service. ED E/M for day 1 and Initial Hospital Care E/M for day 2.
