Wiki Question about Modifiers 54 and 55

If a surgeon performs the pre-op care and surgery, but send the patient to another physician for wound care and followup, can you use the modifier 54 for the physician who actually performs the surgery and 55 modifier on the physician who does the followup. Has anyone else had any experience with this? Also will they both get paid?
