Wiki Question about time requirements for assessment code 90791 & 90792

Hello, I am looking for clarity for the following assessment codes 90791 & 90792. I came across and article for medicare payment and reimbursement stating that for 90791 & 90792 time requirements are a minimum of 45 minutes. But as the article continues it states that 90791 & 90792 is not time defined.

There is no documented or suggested time component for 90791 or 90792 from AMA or CMS.

I am also looking at this.According to the Novitas LCD 35101,the length of the session is required documentation,even though it is not a timed code.Is this true for Pa?

Most carriers will require that you document the start and stop time (as well as general documentation requirements for Mental Health) of the session, but the billing code is not affected by the time component.
