I know that Medicare has a graduated reimbursement schedule for multiple line items . I know this is typically for surgeries; does this also apply to multiple E&M service dates listed on the same claim? I'm wondering this because several of my hospitalists report their services this way and I thinking by putting multiple line items on the same claim that they may unintentionally cutting their reimbursement.

Are you talking multiple E&M on the same day? for a provider they get only one. Are you talking several visits over time on one claim? these are not discounted so long as the from and thru dates are different.

Thanks for your response

Yes there are different dates of service. I was able to finally get a hold of my Medicare rep for this info too.
