Hi all,
I was wondering if someone could clear a few things up for me. If a disease is systemic such and DM, Hypertension, Lupus etc is it always included when coding? EX. a patient a has a dx of copd with acute bronchitis and while checking over the patients chart i notice he/she has a dx of 250.01 and 401.1. would the correct sequencing be 491.22,401.1,250.01?...just wondering cause i find myself questioning what i was taught.

if you're coding for that visit you're coding for the copd with acute bronchitis, according to what I was taught. Now to throw you off if you were coding for lab work that'd be a different story depending on what labs are being drawn. :)
