i have spoken to 7 people who have taken the CPC exam over the course of the last 8 years. all of these people received a score of 69% on their 1st attempt. it seems statistically unlikely that all of these people (whose medical experience & level of preparation varied widely) would receive the exact same score. does anyone have any knowledge of the grading/scoring system used by the AAPC?

it is a 150 question exam and in order to pass you have to score 70% or higher, so I believe you can get 45 incorrect. I have been in medical billing for 15 years and took mine this month and passed with a 72%. Everyone's test is scored the same. I do not know if each person at my exam site got the exact CPC exam that I did. My only issue is when I erased a circle on my scantron and filled in a different one with a pencil; the scantron is graded by a computer and I feel that some answers may not have been "read" correctly.
