Re: Problem Points/I attended a class that handed out an auditing tool that said that you could give 3 points if the encounter was dominated by counseling/cordination of care and the duration of the time is not specified. I am not referring to coding by time by the 50% rule. Our carrier is Palmetto. I can't find anything that shows this on the Medicare site.
This often comes up in or practice. Many visits involve counseling but they often forget to code by time. Does anyone do this, and can you send me to a reference point.
Update: I actually found a couple of websites that shows what I am asking about. One of the sites is training by Ingenix.
