For Pain Management, what would you consider a reasonable amount of E&M visits that would not set up a practice for an audit?

As long as there is documented medical necessity for every visit, you should be fine if there is an audit. Our Pain Management patients are seen routinely every 3 months. Not sure if this is typical, but from what I understand, they are required by law to be monitored this way due to narcotic/opiate use. I guess anything consistently more often may raise some flags, but as long as there's a reason, it should be fine.

Hope this helps! :)
