The information about Reclast coverage is vague. The LCD says "To report low bone mass, use ICD10 code M81.0". Can someone please tell me if they interpret this to mean ANY low bone mass? Is this supposed to refer to a DEXA score of -2.5 or below only, or if this does include higher numbers such as osteopenia? I know osteoporosis and osteopenia are two different levels of low bone mass.
If a patient technically has -1.1 osteopenia on their DEXA, can code M81.0 be used for "low bone mass" and Reclast will be covered?
