Hey there,
My derm provider is questioning reimbursement for AK destructions.

Currently Medicare reimburses
$72.51 for CPT 17000
$9.62 for CPT 17003 EACH additional lesion up to 14
$143.84 for CPT 17004 15 or more lesions.

It doesn?t make a whole lot of sense if the provider destructs say 13 lesions (17000, 17003x12) for total reimbursement $187.95

But if the provider destructs 15 or more he only gets reimbursed $142.84.

So the provider would get paid MORE to destruct fewer lesions.

I just wanted to see if anyone else out there noticed this. Also any input on what some commercial carriers are reimbursing.
