A spine surgeon performed a removal of an Synthes artificial cervical disc and a "redo" with a Medtronic artifical cervical disc. My CPT choice was 22861. Now, I'm being told by a non-coder that was incorrect because the surgeon changed the typed of disc replacement. My thought is an artificial disc is an artificial disc not matter what vendor suppies it. This question is for an ASC. Any thoughts?
