Hi all, I'm getting some mixed answers... Do you charge Foreign Body removal from the eye with Qtip or Cotton Swab (65205)? Fluorescein used; no slit-lamp; external (not embedded). Does the location of object on the eye matter?

Yes, the location of the FB does matter because the payments are different. The 65205 is for a superficial FB on the conjunctiva. The 65220 and 65222 codes deal with corneal foreign bodies and the 67938 is a FB on the external eyelid, which is embedded. The location, such as superior, inferior, nasal or temporal doesn't matter. Just the tissue the FB is located in or on matters and, in the case of corneal FBs, whether or not you had to use a slit lamp to see the FB is important, again for reimbursement.
