Why would a doctors office file claims under the supervising MD and not the rendering physician (who is a PA)? Any help is greatly appreciated.

For Medicare (and for some commercial payers as well), the reimbursement for a PA is 15% lower than that for a physician, so filing under the supervising MD would yield a higher payment. Medicare allows this as long as all of the 'incident to' requirements are met for the services billed.
