I am reviewing a labor and deliver summary that one of our providers signed; a resident delivered the baby, it is noted that our provider (DO) was present for the entire delivery as the attending. I am finding differing info about billing - some say we can bill the normal OB package, others say because he did not officially deliver the baby, all we can bill for is the antepartum and eventual postpartum visit. Has anyone encountered this before?

Hi, yes we have many residents. You can definitely bill whatever the appropriate code is with a GC modifier. There must be statement (as you noted) that the TP was present for the procedure and signed by TP.
