I've just started billing for a new specialty and have a question about billing for the initial visit involving a resident and teaching physician:

The admit date is 4-29. The resident does the H&P on 4-29.
The physician reviews the H&P but doesn't sign the report until 4-30 and puts that date on the billing card.

What date do I use for the initial visit? I should be the date of the H&P, no?

If I use the physician's date, it won't match the admit date. And they have to match correct?

Otherwise it looks like the pt was admitted on 4-29 but the initial wasn't done until 4-30.
