what is the definition of code 361.07?
how is "old" defined?

Let me be more specifically. Is this code for a detachment that has been there for a while and not yet repaired, or is this months, years after a detachment has been fixed? Big debate over this.

Per the Educational Annotation version of ICD-9 CM, 361.07 is a condition that has persisted over a long period of time. So it has never been repaired. Once the detachment has been repaired you would not code it except with possibly a history code.
