Our family practice is looking into providing retinal scans for our diabetic patients. The sales rep is telling us that we bill 92250 Fundus photography with interpretation and report. My concern is that we would download the scans and send them to an independent retinal specialist who reads and interprets the scans. We do not use the TC or 26 modifier. I am uncomfortable with this information. I'm looking for a primary care practice that uses a retinal scanner and can school me in how to code this service and particularly if Medicare and the commercial carriers are reimbursing. Our MAC is Novitas
Thanks.
