I work for a group of Interventional Radiologists. I am not sure what code would be appropriate for the following procedure. I am leaning to a UPC.
History: Patient with ileostomy obstructive uropathy, loss of stent access.
Through the small catheter in the ileostomy, a wire and catheter were manipulated under fluoroscopic control cannulating the left ureter. Catheter was advanced over the wire to be intrarenal collecting system.
A 24 centimeter 8-french ureteral stent was placed with proximal end in the central left renal collecting system and the distal just protruding from the ileostomy site.
Impression: Retrograde left ureteral stent placement.
